My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music, but most importantly, that it actually makes pianistic sense. Sometimes I even hide exercises in the arrangements that I want a student to work on. All of my arrangements are usually made for a specific student, so the results will always vary. This arrangement was made for an early intermediate student in level 3 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. She is working on another piece where the RH crosses over quite a bit, so I decided to create a good practice etude-ish version of What Child is This, since we are also preparing for a Christmas Recital. The reprise of the main melody is identical in the RH and LH, except the RH crosses over the LH the entire time. Overall, the piece has a very mysterious feel that really suits the melody and lovely to hear. Be careful if the tempo is slowed down too much because the dissonances might stick out more than preferred, so the LH will have to be played at pp in order to not distract from the pretty melody.I give fingering and pedal suggestions.

As a composer, he is known for his hundreds of popular titles, including the jazz standard Lullaby of Birdland. Shearing's appealing jazz-inflected idiom makes for distinctive and memorable treatments of classic American hymn tunes. Shearing collaborated closely with Dale Wood in creating the details of these idiomatic organ arrangements.

The Horn plays a „cantabile melody amidst a series of harmonic sequences given by the violin part. Due to its polyphonic and harmonic structure the Violin part can also be performed solo. In different situations it is always wise to adjust some technical details to the performance. I tried to keep the violin part as free as possible from bowing, fingerings and other technical remarks, so that one can easily apply his or her own personal interpretation choices. There are two Violin parts in this volume, one without bowing remarks or much of any other interpretation symbols and the other one with some suggestions -„here and there, but not everywhere. It was composed specifically for guitar, and this copy comes complete with guitar tab as well as traditional notation. I've used an interesting tuning combination for the piece, which is why it also comes with tab, to make everything clearer. Both of the E strings are tuned up by 1 semitone to F, and the B string is de-tuned by 1 semitone to Bb. The resulting sound is pleasant, and unlike most other music out there on the classical guitar market, making it a lovely little piece to learn - and of course to serenade an infant with! It's approximately Grade 4 in standard (ABRSM), so the tuning doesn't make the piece any more difficult to play, and of course, the tab is there to make it crystal clear during the learning process how it is to be played. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did writing it. Please do take a look at another of my classical guitar compositions, Summer Sunset, which would work really well with Holly's Lullaby as a pair. Thank you for your interest in my music. .

The first, Der er et yndigt land (There is a lovely land) is the civil national anthem and the most frequently performed. When it was first published in 1819, the anthem had twelve verses but today it has been significantly shortened. The dotted rhythm in measure 15 (in Parts 1 and 2) is sometimes played as two equal eighth notes (quavers). The second anthem, Kong Christian stod ved højen mast (King Christian stood by the lofty mast) has equal status but is mainly used for royal and military occasions. At such times, it is either performed alone or the two anthems are played together. Known simply as Kong Christian it is traditionally sung in Denmark immediately after midnight every New Year's Eve. The audio sample contains the first, more popular anthem. These quick and easy national anthem arrangements are essential for traveling musicians, bands, instrumental groups and both amateur and professional ensembles. You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band, clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything! This arrangement is in six independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. For the most satisfying sound you’ll need to get a good balance between each part possibly with an emphasis on the melodic line. If you have a non-standard ensemble, you can pick 'n' mix as required. The piano reduction can fill missing parts or can be used as the basis for an accompaniment. Note that this anthem is virtually identical to the anthem of Finland. There is a minor difference in part of the melody and the repeat structure is different. This arrangement consists of a four-page score with seven instrumental staves and three percussion staves. One of the members of The Everyvoice Women's choir, in the UK, brought it to my attention and they will perform it in July. It sounds really lovely. As an American folk balled with origins possibly from the UK, it is one of those songs that sounds quite cheery but what lies beneath is a sad tale. The female narrator spurns a potential suitor, following her mother's warning to avoid the advances of men so her daughter can avoid the heart break she herself had endured.

?Lovely? by Billie Eilish and Khalid was released in April 2018. Written and produced by Finneas O?Connel, brother of Billie Eilish, it was used as the soundtrack to Season Two of ?13 Reasons Why? - a drama on Netflix. The song went Platinum in New Zealand and USA, and reached the top five in the New Zealand and Australian Charts.
I think that it lends itself beautifully to a String Quartet Arrangement and very much enjoyed working on it. At the moment I have only a computer version of the Score but will be recording it with Capriccio Quartet once lockdown restrictions are at an end.
Feel free to change the bowing, especially in the eight-quaver accompaniment bars. These do need to be heard, but very much as a background texture. I envisaged the song as played with a great deal of delicacy and subtlety, though this is hard to achieve with Sibelius software. In this arrangement the cello has less to do than usual, but there are some sudden shifts of position and that deep presence is vital to the overall effectiveness of the song. The double stopping usually includes one open string.
I experimented for a long time with different octaves for the violin to play at Letters C and E. You may like to change the score at this point if it feels easier, or just prefer one or the other. I opted for the high octave at times because the unison with the viola two octaves below seemed to have a lot of emotional power. However one octave apart also sounds good so younger players could easily tackle this song.

Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia.
